Same facts. Easier words.

Toggle each example to compare. Rewrites aim for short sentences, everyday words and "you" — without losing accuracy. Final wording would be reviewed by WRC.

The IFSP (Early Start, birth to 3)

If your child is under 3 and gets Early Start, you and a team will write a plan together called an IFSP. It lists what you hope for your child and family, and the support that will help. It is usually written within 45 days after your child is referred. Support often happens at home or in places your child already goes.

The IPP (age 3 and older)

Your IPP is your plan. You, the people you choose, and your Service Coordinator meet to talk about your life and what you want. Together you write down your goals and the services and supports that can help. California law (the Lanterman Act) says the plan should be centered on you.

Changing or disagreeing with a plan

You can ask to meet and update your IPP at any time — the regional center should meet with you within 30 days. If the regional center decides to deny, reduce or stop a service, it must tell you in writing. You have the right to disagree and ask for a fair hearing.
